XStick(TM) Menus
The XStick(TM) menu structure is pretty straightforward.
- File:
- Open - Open a new XStick file.
- New - Start a new XStick file.
- Save - Save the current XStick file.
- Save As - Save the current XStick file under a new name.
- Edit Defaults - Edit the default program settings. A number of
user defined colors and preferences can be setup here.
- Save Defaults - Save the default settings into the .ini file.
- Print - Print the current score to an eps file(s).
(There is no direct printing API in Tcl/Tk yet, but using
Ghostview, you can print/convert these files.)
- Quit - Quit XStick.
- Tuning: This menu offers a number of predefined Stick® tunings, as
well as the ability to be able to define and save a custom tuning. Be
aware that changing the tuning while working on a score will clear all of
your fret/string notation as it no longer applies.
- Note Dots: This menu turns on/off "cheat" dots so you can quickly find a
given note on the fretboard. The colors are predefined in the
distribution but can be customized by the user.
- Staff: This menu provides a number of function related to theStaff
Tab(TM) score at the bottom of the screen.
- Add Staff - Add a new pair of staffs to the score, with the
current key signature and time signature.
- Delete Staff - Delete the last staff.
- Key Signature - Define the key signature for the entire score.
- Score Title - Define a 2 line score title.
- Time Signature - Define the time signature for the entire score.
- Help: This menu calls up the online help and also has links to
other sources of information on the Stick®.
- About XStick - Program credits.
- XStick Help - Hypertext help files.
- Various Links - These will only work if you have a browser defined
in the defaults screen and your platform supports calling other programs.
